Going to the Meri Mart in Beijing

Chris and I went on a walk today and got lost!!! It was fabulous observing the Chinese people, seeing whole families on a bike, deliveries taking place, cars truly just missing you as they careen around the corner during the walking sign still flashing!  Many police and city volunteer police.  Wen we turned around to back to the apartment we realized neither of us had looked at the street, or took notice of a landmark... We just went up to younger kids and asked them is they spoke English.  We finally got help from a concierge in a hotel.   We made it back to our apartment lobby just in time to meet up with our group to go on the bus grocery shopping at the Meri Mart, two bus stops away from our apartment.
I just don't realize all the ease of my life.  We can't buy 6 bags of groceries at once, Like I do at home and throw them in in the trunk of the car!  We can never carry them back to our apartment!!! It's a new learning experience for sure.
I love to learn each new part of our China experience!

This is our China Foreign Affairs group of teachers with 3 wonderful Chinese students from the school who volunteered to help us get around today.
Chris, Susie(American name), Gail(American name), Lorraine Foster one our fellow teachers, Hudson (American name), and Roland Johnson.

August 26, 2015

The BIG day is here! Chris and I fly out in the morning from Salt Lake with a wave good-bye to our beautiful mountains and the rest of you we love spending time with. We will have a 2 hour layover in Seattle.  Then off with a 12 hour flight to Beijing China for the next 11 months!  Let the adventure begin!
I am so excited, scared, nervous, sad and thrilled!  I will miss the smell of fresh rain in my yard, the garden; my little orange tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries. I will miss the kisses and hugs of family especially my angel grandchildren!  Already counting the days to see them again!
